sodium ion battery storage
We're closely following developments in sodium ion battery technology as a potential future option for off-grid energy storage, and monitoring the supplier landscape as products mature.
Sodium ion cells are non-toxic, use abundant seawater-derived sodium, and typically present a lower fire risk than many lithium chemistries. Manufacturers often quote strong performance at temperatures around -20°C; like any battery, real-world capacity still varies with cold and use.
We do not offer sodium ion installs yet. The technology is still maturing, and we want confidence in the supply chain, installer accreditation, and long-term reliability before we recommend it to clients.

For on-grid projects that means export metering, G98/G99-style grid applications where required, and documentation you can pass to insurers or landlords. For off-grid sites it means autonomy calculations, backup strategy, and heating loads matched to inverter capacity.
